Job description

Premier Analytical Services is an award winning Food Testing Laboratory, part of the Premier Food Group Ltd. Our laboratories are at the forefront of innovation within the food industry, and as well as holding UKAS Accreditations, are recognised as a Centre of Excellence.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Chemist to join our team specialising in Food Contaminants.

As a key member of this highly respected team your role will involve analysing a range of foods, ingredients and packaging using techniques such as GC-MS/MS. Alongside the routine analysis the role will include assisting with new method developments, validations and troubleshooting to ensure that food safety and quality risks are proactively managed. The laboratory is fast paced so the successful candidate will need to be able to prioritise workloads, review analytical data and report results within deadlines.

The ideal candidate will be –
  • Degree qualified or equivalent to MSc level in Analytical Chemistry or a related subject
  • Experienced in the theory and/or practice of separation science
  • Experienced with operating and maintaining GC/MS systems, ideally with a number of years of this experience being within a UKAS (ISO 17025) accredited laboratory
  • Competent in extracting and quantifying trace contaminants from complex matrices
  • Knowledgeable with developing and optimising analytical methods
  • Able to prioritise workloads and adhere to reporting deadlines
  • Able to liaise directly with clients to report results, as well as convey the significance of the results themselves
