Job description

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Qualified Accountant to join our business team in Manchester, committed to delivering the high standards our customers and consumers have come to expect.  
The team covers a wide range of accounting areas including: balance sheet accounting, tax, fixed assets, capital expenditure, cash flow forecasting, cash and bank accounting, stock accounting and product costing.
Their purpose is to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial statements through the development and enforcement of robust processes and controls in the shared service centre.
This is a high profile role, responsible for stock accounting and overall balance sheet management and reporting
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities 
  • Business unit stock reporting for strategic business decisions
  • Monthly stock provisions for Finished / Raw & Packaging stocks
  • Budget and forecasts for stock uplift to standard calculations
  • Budget for Year End stock revaluations
  • Co-ordination of the Balance Sheet Reporting pack (key management tool for senior finance management)
  • Management of balance sheet account reconciliation review with all owners across PBS
  • Co-ordinate, manage and develop the work of the team of staff to deliver team KPIs, maximise effectiveness and contribution to the wider business
  • Effectively manage and identify development requirements for Balance Sheet Associate
  • Mentor and coach Balance Sheet Associate
  • Deliver consistent, accurate and timely information to the business with records maintained for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Pro-actively identify, research and recommend improvements to systems and processes within the team to ensure efficient and effective business operations.  Testing an implementation of changes once approved
  • Provide subject matter expertise on strategic initiatives that impact the area
  • Ensure appropriate controls are implemented and process and procedures are compliant with legal and audit requirements
  • Ensure compliance to accounting and other relevant standards
Minimum Requirements 
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
  • Broad finance experience (to include stock accounting)
  • People management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Significant process improvement experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a fast paced team, delivering to tight deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills
