Job description

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join our business team in Manchester, committed to delivering the high standards our customers and consumers have come to expect.  
The team covers a wide range of accounting areas including: balance sheet accounting, tax, fixed assets, capital expenditure, cash flow forecasting, cash and bank accounting, stock accounting and product costing.
Their purpose is to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial statements through the development and enforcement of robust processes and controls in the shared service centre.
This is a high profile role, responsible for operational accounting for supply chain activities, fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  •  Monthly settlement to assets under construction (AUCs)
  • Monthly depreciation accounting
  • Balance Sheet validations, ensuring reconciliation is fully supported and complies with accounting standards.
  • Accounting for asset disposals through to revenue stage
  • Fixed Assets Movements (2FAM) & Fixed Asset Disposals (2FAD) monthly reporting
  • Preparation of budget and reforecasts for CAPEX and depreciation
  • Asset verification program – to ensure all assets are verified over a 3 year period
  • Various accruals and prepayment journals – eg manual depreciation for Fixed Assets
  • Accruals, Provisions, Recharges and Adjustments for specific areas as defined by line manager
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations including full investigations of any variances and improving internal controls & processes.
  • Support Balance Sheet Accountant with both internal and external auditors’ requests.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of SAP GL to SAP sub ledger reconciliations
  • Reporting all differences between SAP GL and SAP sub ledgers and escalating issues where necessary to Management/ISC.
  • Ensuring the accurate and prompt reporting of stock provisions to site finance and recharges and adjustments to operational teams as appropriate.
  • Providing support and cover for other members of the team and the wider RTR team.
  • Driving for continual improvement both within the team and across the business
  • Deliver consistent, accurate and timely information to the business with records maintained for internal and external reporting requirements
  • Improve customer service quality and relationships
  • Identify, research and recommend improvements to systems and processes within the team to ensure efficient and effective business operations.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 2 years experience of an accounting function.
  • Part Qualified (eg AAT qualified, Managerial/Strategic level of CIMA or ACCA equivalent )
  • High level accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in regard to data validation and data entry.
  • Advanced Excel skills (use of pivot tables, lookups, IF functions)
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of SAP GL/SAP within a manufacturing accounting environment would be an advantage
