Nottingham students take a trip to Worksop

Earlier this month, students from Nottingham University studying for their BSc in Food Science and Technology took a trip to our Worksop site to learn all about the ‘real world’ of Food Manufacturing.

Our Worksop site is a great place for students to visit before they start their second year of university as it showcases the different processes involved at a large food factory. The visit gave them an insight into what they might learn in their following years on the course and the career options available in the Food and Drink industry.

During their visit, the students completed a tour of the factory to help them understand the various processes involved in manufacturing, understand how some of our much loved brands are produced and see some of our state of the art equipment at work.

The students also gained an insight into the key technical challenges for our business, understand more about Premier Foods and our aims as a company.

Marisa Fitch, Head of Corporate Affairs, explains why visits like these are important to our industry and to us a business: “Many young people are unaware of the exciting roles that exist within our food industry, so it’s important that we introduce students to the many career opportunities that can be found within the food and drink sector.

“Visits like these help improve the reputation of our sector, and of the wider industry, as well as showcasing our innovative factory technology, R&D Centre and great brands.”

Thank you to our Worksop colleagues who facilitated the visit. To read more about our commitments for developing skills for the future, check out this link.
