Premier Foods and FareShare “Win a Dinner” goes nationwide
- Expanded promotion aims to support the distribution of over 400,000 meals in 2024
- On-pack competition now on shelves at all major retailers
Premier Foods, one of the UK’s largest food producers, is launching its biggest ever “Win a Dinner, Give a Dinner” promotion in support of food redistribution charity FareShare, as the competition expands to all major retailers across the UK.
For the third year running the special on-pack activation will offer shoppers the chance to win a £10 food voucher for a retailer of their choice and for every prize claimed successfully, a matching £10 donation will be made to FareShare.
The promotion is a no purchase necessary campaign appearing on a higher number of Premier Foods brands than ever before, with a total of eleven featuring the mechanic – Ambrosia, Angel Delight, Bird’s, Bisto, Homepride, Loyd Grossman, McDougalls, Mr Kipling, OXO, Paxo and Sharwood’s.
In its first two years the promotion ran exclusively at Tesco, donating enough money to support FareShare in its redistribution of over 300,000 meals, however it will now be on the shelves of many more retailers.
The target for the third iteration of the campaign is to support the provision of 420,000 meals in a single year, thanks to a combination of funding direct from Premier Foods and via the matched donations for each successful claim. Prize winners also have the option to donate their own voucher, something 8% of shoppers have chosen to do in the past.
Richard Martin, Chief Customer Officer at Premier Foods, said: “We know consumers appreciate the chance to win something for themselves but also support those dealing with food insecurity, and this promotion is also a powerful way of educating people about the work of FareShare. Tesco has been an amazing partner for our first two years, and we’re excited to be taking this opportunity onto the shelves of every major retailer, so more shoppers have a chance to win and make a difference.”
This promotion is just one aspect of how Premier Foods supports FareShare, after a multifaceted national partnership was launched in November 2022. The five-year tie-up includes FareShare collaborating with Premier Foods on efforts to halve its food waste by 2030, as well as helping the business meet targets of donating 1 million meals and 1,000 volunteering days annually. During Premier Foods’ current financial year, it’s been able to provide the equivalent of 746,000 meals so far to FareShare and other food insecurity charities.
Polly Bianchi, director of fundraising at FareShare, said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Premier Foods and all their retail partners for supporting this project in its third year. The donations made to FareShare from this initiative will help us get good-to-eat food, which might otherwise go to waste, to people who need it. Our network of 8,500 local charities across the UK are all working harder than ever to support people facing food insecurity and loneliness. Premier Foods’ generous support for FareShare – both through donations and time volunteered – makes a huge difference to our mission to get food to people who need it, rather than to waste.”
The promotion will be live in-store between January and March 2024, with consumers able to claim prizes right through until the end of October 2024. A total of 5,000 £10 vouchers are available. Full T&Cs apply, see below for details.*

About FareShare
FareShare is the UK’s biggest charity tackling food waste to support social good. We take good-to-eat surplus food from across the food industry, sort it in our regional warehouses across the UK, and pass it onto a network of over 8,500 charities and community groups. These include school clubs, community centres and pantries, hostels, refuges, older people’s lunch clubs, and hospices. Three quarters of the organisations we provide food to, support children and families. During the last financial year, 2022-23, FareShare redistributed the equivalent of nearly 128 million meals – that’s 4 meals every second. The 55,000 tonnes of food we redistributed stopped 95,000 tonnes of COe2 going to waste. www.fareshare.org.uk
